Last Will and Testament of Jacob N Alt

In the name of God Amen I Jacob N Alt of the Township of Licking County of Clarion and State of Pennsylvania being old and weak in body but of sound mind meaning and understanding (Praise be to God for it) considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and to the end I may be the betterd prepared to leave this world whenever it shall please God to call me hence do therefore make and declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say first and principally I commend my soul to God my creator and as to my worldly effects . First I leave all my debts and funeral expenses of myself and my wife paid with the effects of my personal property. I give and bequeath to my grand son John Grant Edinger all my right to the interest and claim on and to a note against Daniel Boyer entered into the Court of Common Pleas of this County in favor of Jacob N Alt and John Grant Edinger.

And I give all balances due me to my wife Margaret Alt during her lifetime with all tents claims whatsoever they be and at her death I give and bequeath to my heirs namely Catherine Ann Penrance, Lavina Best, Wm Alt, Sarah Ellen Kepler to be divided share and share alike one with another . And I hereby constitute and appoint JC Shields of the Township of Licking County of Clarion and State aforesaid Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said testator Jacob N Alt have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this 23 day of July, AD 1881.

Before me SJ Burgoon Register for the Probate of Willas and granting Letters of Administration and for the County of Clarion personally cause JC Shields and Hannah J Shields the subscribing witnesses to the forgoing will who being duly sworn according to law do say that they were present and saw and heard Jacob N Alt deceased the testator therein named sign seal publish pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for is Last Will and Testament and that at the time of so doing he was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and a belief .
